Yaqubov and Sitemela will face for the WBC International

Tajikistan’s Muhammad Yaqubov representing RCC Martial Arts Academy will be putting his  WBC strap on the line for the 4th time for last three years, now against unbeaten Lunga Sitemela from South Africa.

Yaqubov’s last bout was held a year ago, he won former world champion Tomas Rojas by unanimous decision. But excessive pause is been despite success because of coronavirus pandemic, an opponent has not been selected for a long time.

Lunga looks like a suitable challenger, he has 13 victories of 13 bouts and the African Boxing Union Light Title. Lunga had to collide with Azinga Fuzile, who was one of the possible contenders for the IBF World, but the bout has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. Sitemela has no bouts since he fought on August, 2019. In case South African win, he will be able to take Yakubov’s place in the WBC ranking and enter the top five. 

Yaqubov vs. Sitemela is part of a big night of action on March 27, at the RCC Martial Art Academy Cruiserweight Olympic champion Evgeny Tishchenko meets in WBC eliminatory bout against Thabiso Mchunu in the main event, Tatyana Zrazhevskaya squares off with Estrella Valverde for the WBC Interim World Female Bantamweight Title.
