Tishchenko and Mchunu will meet in WBC eliminatory bout to headline RCC Boxing Promotions event.

On March 27 in Yekaterinburg, Russia’s Evgeny Tishchenko (8-0) takes on South African’s Thabiso Mchunu (22-5) in an eliminatory bout for the opportunity to contest the cruiserweight title of the World Boxing Council. Moreover, Mchunu puts his WBC Silver title on the line that he has been retaining since the end of 2019.

Tishchenko is still unbeaten and has already reached the 4th position of the WBO rankings, the 6th (IBF) and the 15th (WBC). The fight against Mchunu will be the ninth professional for the Olympic champion. 

Mchunu carved out a name for himself in the world of boxing. He won over Denis Lebedev and took the WBC silver title in 2019. He has gone through a real clashes within his 13-years career: he was the champion of South Africa and NABF, even fought for the WBO world title against Oleksandr Usyk. Thabiso Mchunu was in the race to fight for the WBC world title, but lost in an eliminator against Ilunga Makabu, who met Tony Bellew.
