Kovalev denied the rumors about the cancellation of the fight with Anthony Yarde

Russian boxer Sergey Kovalev, who will fight against British boxer Anthony Yarde on August 24, reacted to the rumors about the possible cancellation of the fight in Chelyabinsk. Such information appeared in the media after negotiations began on the possibility of a fight between Russian boxer and Mexican Saul Alvarez.

«The fight with Yarde will take place. It's not negotiable. Chelyabinsk is my home, and I want to box here. Alvarez's proposal is very serious, we are really considering it, but it does not affect the upcoming fight», - Kovalev said.

Let us remind you that Kovalev will have to defend the WBO World Light Heavyweight title. The meeting will take place in Chelyabinsk at the Ice Arena «Traktor». The event is organized by the government of the Chelyabinsk region, the Russian Boxing Federation and five leading promotion companies.

As for Alvarez, at the same time the Mexican team is negotiating with the contender for the IBF world title, Ukrainian Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
