Magomed Kurbanov will fight for the WBA World Champion title
Russian boxer Magomed Kurbanov (17-0-0), who represents the RCC Academy of Martial Arts, is preparing to fight for the WBA World Champion title in the super welterweight (up to 69.85 kg). The bout will take place on July 20 in France. His opponent will be Michel Soro (33-2-1) is the owner of the WBA Gold belt.
Kurbanov has been performing in professionals since 2015, and his winning series already includes 17 fights, each of which he fought under the RCC Boxing Promotions auspices. He has won the WBC Asia, WBC Eurasia, WBO Youth, WBO Inter-Continental and WBO International titles at various times. He is now one of the top 15 boxers in three world boxing organizations. As for the WBA rating, he is in seventh position.
Michelle Soro last time entered the ring in December 2018 against the American Greg Vendetti. Then the WBA Gold belt was on the stakes, and the Frenchman took the victory in the second round. This victory made him a must-have challenger for the championship fight. Interestingly, in 2017, Soro had already fought for the WBA title, but lost a separate decision to the Argentinean Brian Castano (15-0-1).
It should be noted that the current champion refused to fight with Soro, so the WBA World title became vacant, and Kurbanov got a chance for this fight.
